About Us

ISHECON specialises in providing chemical and explosives process safety consulting services to industries across the globe, but mostly in Southern Africa. We are chemical engineers and industrial chemists with a broad base of experience in the chemicals and explosives industries. We combine our understanding of chemistry, chemical engineering design, project management and plant operations with internationally proven methodologies for the identification and assessment of process hazards and risks. We have widely applied these techniques for many years across many industries – Chemical Manufacturing, Petrochemicals, Oil-Refining, Explosives, Pulp & Paper, Mining & Metallurgical, Food Processing, Water Treatment, Etc.

In order to design and operate safer facilities, process safety considerations must be integrated into the project from the initial conceptual design through to the plant operation and eventually decommissioning. The services we offer can be applied across the full project life cycle and will provide assurance that a facility will meet its process safety obligations as well as their legal requirements.

Our History

ISHECON was formed in 1999 by three members Daniel, Debra and Nigel and since then the company has grown and expanded with new directors, Derek and Portia, and a vibrant team of more chemical engineers, technicians and industrial chemists.

There is over 150 years of experience in design, management and operation of chemical and explosives facilities at Ishecon.

The company has been conducting Quantitative Risk Assessments, HAZOP facilitation and Process Safety Management training for over twenty years.
